The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG or UNC Greensboro) is a public research university in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is part of the University of North Carolina system. The university was established as a woman's college in 1891 by legislative enactment and opened in 1892. Credit for the establishment of UNCG is given to Charles Duncan McIver. McIver served as the institution's first Chief Executive Officer with the title of President. This position was also known as Dean of Administration after 1934 and Chancellor since 1945.
